Tying the Uncle Fester

Our tying series continues with the Uncle Fester tied by Craig Buckbee. A very productive nymph in Isonychia waters, with a nod to the Zug-bug, it takes its name from our favorite mink-collared T.V. uncle. Best tied on an emerger style hook: choose light or heavy wire, as well as bead size to adjust for flow and depth. It is particularly effective fished late day through shallow riffles into soft corner eddies... so be careful where you wade! Adding a back stripe made of white 20# backing, laid in prior to ribbing will give it a more realistic look. Enjoy!
