An Angler's Education
Jan 31, 2026
For many of us, we pursue fly fishing and fly tying as a lifelong journey of continuous learning and education. We embrace the chance to go beyond the waters and the vise, and engage in learning more. We read books, search and watch instructional videos, and seek mentorship from experienced anglers and tyers. Understanding stream entomology, advanced casting techniques, and the nuances of various fly patterns and materials are just some of the topics that the slow winter season offers time to take a deep dive.
We dedicate ourselves to learning and so we can maximize our time fishing and tying and pick up a few new things. For us at the shop, we embrace this time to pick up new ideas and skills for the upcoming season to share with our customers. We do this on our own time as well as coming together for tying sessions, classes and presentations. These things help to round out our angler education and hope they do for you as well.
