Gordon Quill

Gordon Quill

A pattern that has stood the test of time and is considered my many to be the quintessential Catskills dry fly. Originated by Theodore Gordon, the father of the Catskills style of dry flies.

Although this pattern continues at some point after the first Dette catalog, a switch was made from a wood duck flank tail to a hackle fiber tail.

Hook: Standard Dry Fly

Wings: Lemon Wood Duck Flank

Tail: Lemon Wood Duck Flank

Body: Stripped Peacock Quill

Hackle: Dun (Medium Dark Shade)
