This advanced class builds upon the skills and techniques covered in the intermediate Catskill Dry Fly course. You will be introduced to the processes and procedures involved in tying some of the most renowned and intricate classic trout fly patterns, including the Pink Lady, Catskill, Beaverkill and Blue Quill. These flies feature delicate quill and floss bodies, as well as double slip wings and palmered hackles, offering a chance to refine your skills in working with these traditional materials and techniques.
Classic Catskill style dry flies are all about proper proportions, material selection and those eloquent upright and divided wings. The patterns in this class were selected to teach all the skills necessary to tie these classic dry flies. The flies take the tyer through progression from a wingless fly, to a fly with wood duck wings, and finally hackle tip wings. Materials and tools provided to students or they can bring their own.
